Quora Answers: The Malignant Narcissist

Do Non-Malignant Narcissists Exist? If So, How Do They Behave?

Yes, non-malignant narcissists exist.

In fact, the majority of narcissists are not malignant.

From what I’ve observed over the years, Narcissism appears to be on a spectrum.

Similar to Autism Spectrum Disorder.

But only because of the varying degrees of severity, depending on the individual.

For example, I have known people who wouldn’t necessarily be candidates for Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

But they were narcissistic enough to be obnoxious and unpleasant to associate with.

Annoying?

Yes. Very.

But evil? Not necessarily.

I would say this type is on the lower end of the narcissism spectrum, as it were.

Then you have those people who aren’t malignant.

But may still become violent.

Some have covert tendencies.

Some are overt.

Both are potentially dangerous.

But not necessarily deadly.

Though some are fully capable of extreme violence, they may not act on those impulses.

This type is quite a bit higher on the spectrum.

The Malignant Narcissist is a whole other beast.

Out of the worst of beasts.

Fortunately, they aren’t as common as other types of narcissists.

Those that are truly malignant are an example of the worst mankind has to offer.

They’re capable of the most despicable and inhumane behavior you can’t imagine.

Quora Answers: Control–The Malignant Narcissist’s Weapon Of Choice

Is A Malignant Narcissist‘s Biggest Weapon Having Us Believe That We Have No Control?

In my case it was.

After years of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse, my Malignant Narcissist ex-husband wore me down to just a shell of my former self.

By making me feel powerless to change my situation, and without any control over my circumstances, I became easier to abuse.

The fear of not being able to stop him from abusing me drove me to always try to meet his ridiculous demands.

No matter what I had to do to accomplish the impossible, I was willing to do it.

The fear of what he would do to me if I failed was a powerful motivator.

I didn’t even have control of my own thoughts.

Everything I did was in anticipation of how he might react.

If I wanted to go visit my family, I asked myself if he would get mad.

If there was even the slightest chance of displeasing him, I opted not to see them.

His control over me, and my feelings of helplessness, definitely became a powerful weapon for him.

He used it often.

And without mercy.

Leaving him and going No Contact was the only way I was able to regain control of my life, thoughts, and behaviors.

It was my only chance to successfully disarm him and take away his power.

Thank God it worked.

Quora Answers: Narcissism

How Long Will It Be Before A Narcissist Tries To Get You Back In Their Lives?

There’s no formula that can prove definitively when, or if, a narcissist will try to get someone back in their lives.

Despite not having certain human emotions, narcissists are still human beings. With different preferences and objectives.

People are unpredictable, and every situation is different.

Generally speaking, if a narcissist has discarded you, and believes there is no further financial or monetary gain to be had, it’s quite possible that he’ll never return.

It’s also possible that the narc will get bored with his current sources of supply and revisit you for another dance between the sheets.

But he won’t stay.

Instead of trying to figure out a time frame for the narcissist’s possible return, your efforts would be better spent educating yourself on all the reasons why you shouldn’t give him one more second of your life.
